For the GS-07:
You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 in the Federal service. Example of specialized experience are:
Monitored and inspected timber sale operations or other contracts having common contract requirements and conditions; designated timber sale boundaries, interpreted contract provisions, explained provisions to operators, applied silviculture prescriptions, understood marking guides and identified tree species, marked and cruised timber. For the GS-08:
You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07:
Examples of specialized experience are:
Monitored and inspected timber sale operations having common contract requirements and conditions; prepared written reports of sale inspections; interpreted timber sale contract provisions and explained to operators; inspected contracts for fire prevention, cutting operations, temp road construction. Obtained compliance or reported non-compliance to supervisor. Made recommendations to accept work. For the GS-09:
You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8:
Examples of specialized experience are:
Administered timber sale contracts with conventional contract requirements and conditions; prepared written reports of all sale inspections and made follow-ups on deficiencies. Developed a schedule or plan for inspecting timber sales and prioritizing work. Obtained compliance with contract provisions; resolved issues by using the contract. Performed final inspections and made recommendations for acceptance of the contract for closure. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
