Eureka, CA Eureka, CA Temporary Temporary $18 - $25 an hour $18 - $25 an hour 9 days ago 9 days ago 9 days ago Summary The office assistant is responsible for accounts payable functions for the college, including but not limited to processing invoices, issue checks, and reconciling vendor statements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for day-to-day accounts payable transactions Matches invoices, receiving reports and other requests for payment with purchase orders and other documents Enters invoices Ensures credit is received for outstanding bills Prepares checks Credit card reconciliations Provides information to vendors and staff regarding invoices Ensures proper authorization and compliance with District policies and procedures Performs any other duties necessary to keep the office running Be reliable, organized, detailed and focused Knowledge and Skills Requires basic knowledge of bookkeeping practices, general office procedures, filing and record keeping, email and telephone techniques and etiquette.
Must have sufficient communication skills to project a positive image and convey basic information to vendors and staff.
Abilities Requires the ability to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, scanners, etc.
Physical Abilities Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers.
Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to operate keyboard and other office equipment.
Requires sitting for extended periods of time, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, and occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to 25 pounds.
Education and Experience The position requires a High School diploma.
College-level coursework in general office practices and/or experience working in an office or higher education setting is preferred.
Bookkeeping and/or accounting experience preferred.
