Our staff is responsible for the day-to-day environmental compliance at PG&E's Gas, Electric, and Shared facilities.

Position SummarySenior Environmental Field Specialist monitors routine and emergency activities with potential environmental impacts.
Duties encompass environmental compliance activities related to:
Facility Management Training and Coaching of Employees and Contractors Emergency Response Permit Support Focused Assessments Project Support Budget Management Agency Inspection Support Information and Data Management Internal Audits and Environmental Reviews Contingency Plans Compliance Communication Site Remediation SupportThis is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E.
This job is subject to collective bargaining.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.
This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.
The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

$158,436Job Responsibilities Promote safety awareness outside of the department Provides professional consultation, advice, direction, and training to Company personnel and contractors for compliance activities with internal Company policies as well as all external regulatory agencies.
Maintains a lead role in environmental regulatory agency communications and negotiations.
Acts as the liaison for environmental regulatory agencies during inspections.
Will be required to staff and respond to field queries related to Company emergencies (physical visits may be required) on an after-hours phone advice line on an as needed basis.
Emergency field responses may be required at any time as determined to be necessary.
Preparing and communicating line of business environmental compliance and financial performance data.
Contributes significantly in developing company procedures, guidance, specifications, and guidelines.
Maintaining and updating the Company's Environmental Management System database for their respective facilities regarding completed inspections, deficiencies, emergency response incidents, and corrective action plans as well as future timelines for inspections and requirements for Company compliance.
Effectively define and manage large or complex projects or tasks and adequately addresses resources when planning work scopes; perform assignments of broad scope and high complexity; routinely apply extensive knowledge of technical principles, practices and regulatory requirements within one or more areas of expertise to resolve complex problems.
Strives at all times to improve processes and procedures by identifying and evaluating new methods or techniques to achieve company goals and, where warranted, aggressively works to realize their adoption.
Recognize areas where improvements are needed and champions cost-effective solutions beneficial to business partner organizations.
Applies formal planning techniques for major projects.
Provide leadership, direction and assistance to Technical employees and teams.
Acts as a mentor to Associate and Journey-level employees Uses independent judgment in applying appropriate principles and techniques in a broad range of situations to arrive at optimum solutions from the standpoint of practicality and cost-effectiveness.
Prepares letters, reports and other submittals to outside entities regarding moderate to large scale projects and facility compliance obligations.
May be called upon to make presentations within and outside PG&E.
Negotiates and/or testifies on behalf of the Company as necessary.
QualificationsMinimum BS/BA degree in appropriate technical discipline with direct application to current job responsibilities; or, possesses sufficient experience in subject area of job responsibilities as to be considered roughly equivalent to academic training in that discipline 8 years relevant experience, with experience as lead on large-scale and complex projects.
International Code Council California Designated UST Operator Certification (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire) Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's LicenseDesired Possesses extensive knowledge of environmental standards, laws, and, regulations that pertain to job responsibilities, and has demonstrated skills on the development and application of technical information to meet these requirements in the following areas:
o Air Qualityo Water Qualityo Hazardous Materialso Hazardous Wasteo Fire Code Demonstrates ability to solve organizational, resource and logistical problems.
Strong writing and communication skills.
If available in area of technical discipline, holds current professional registration with direct application to job responsibilities (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Registered Environmental Health Specialist, Registered Environmental Assessor, etc.
) High level of IT platform proficiency on standard software packages, the web, and mobile apps.
Advanced degree in appropriate technical discipline with direct application to current job responsibilities (i.
e.
, MS in environmental discipline, sciences, engineering, or MBA) Program management training (e.
g.
, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification) ISO 14001 management systems training Registered environmental assessor/Professional auditor training Six Sigma and/or Lean training 40 Hr.
